Bloggers Quilt Festival

I have decided to join in the fun of Bloggers Quilt Festival! I have been reading lots of blogs who are also participating and there are so many amazingly talented quilters out there. I love it! Here is my latest finish:

This is Bonnie Hunter's Pineapple Blossom pattern. I took a class in 2014 and finally finished this quilt in August. This is one of Bonnie's free patterns which you can find on her website.  As you can see I used a piece of plaid fabric for the backing. I thought I would use most of that fabric in this quilt but there is definitely enough to back another quilt, maybe two! I'd say that was a good deal because I paid $5 for it at a Habitat Restore. This quilt will probably reside on my bed this winter. I was happy to finally finish it!

Thanks for stopping by!

Baby Quilt

While searching for another project I found this baby quilt top. It was packed away with the batting and the backing so I decided to sandwich it together and quilt it. I probably made the top 2 or 3 years ago, so I guess it was time to finish it up, don't you agree?! This one will be donated at my next quilt guild meeting. My guild donates baby quilts to our local hospital and also to a children's home.

It measures about 30 inches X 42 inches.

Twin Quilts

A friend requested quilts for her twin grandchildren. She chose the colors and I made the quilts. These quilts turned out sweet! They measure about 54 inches square.

The backs are grey tone on tone prints.

The babies have arrived and are healthy! I can't wait to get pictures of these little ones with their quilts <3 p="">

More finishes in April

I had a pretty good quilting month in April! My favorite finish was the K quilt. This was a collaborative effort. My sister messaged me in February I believe and said "let's make our sister something for her birthday" which is in April. So she suggested a wall hanging made of "K's" (our sister's name starts with K). I thought that was a good idea so I whipped up two K blocks and then I said "why don't we make a quilt?" And so my sister made half the blocks and I made half the blocks and then I mailed my blocks to her. The K's are various solids and the backgrounds are all fabrics that make us think of our sister. She put them together and while she did that I pieced the back. I opted to just pull all the red fabrics I had and I used them. Red is my sister's favorite color. I added the appliqué 40 for interest and fun. My sister mailed the top back to me and I took it to the long arm quilter. We chose to have it quilted with a star pattern which made us think of fireworks and celebration. I bound it in a solid deep red. I really love how this quilt turned out! I loved collaborating with my sister. I loved picking fabrics that made me think of my other sister. We gifted it to my sister and she loved it!! It measures 56 inches X 70 inches. My only regret was that we finished after March quilt guild and gifted it before the April guild meeting so I didn't get to take it for show and tell. Lol! This was such a fun project!

baby quilt

I made the top of this quilt way back in 2015 while I was a quilt retreat. It measures 33 inches X 33 inches. The backing was a bright piece of fabric I had in my stash. I love how bright this little quilt is! I am so happy to have this one finished! The pattern can be found here!

Posting pictures

Aren't quilting and blogging friends the best?! I mentioned I was having trouble posting pic and sweet Chookyblue sent me a suggestion to email pics to my blog and then edit the post. Genius! So I gave it a try and woohoo a picture appeared on my blog :) Thanks Chooky!!! This is a recent finish and I'll do a proper post on it soon!

Hello March

It's been a while...I have made a few things in the past 8 or 9 months but to be honest I kinda lost my quilting mojo. I don't know why... but last month I was very pleased to finish 4 projects!
This was a Valentine table topper class at a local quilt shop. I love how it turned out!
This is a quilt that was designed by one of my coworkers. I really love how this one turned out.
I finished the swap with my sister! It is so summery and I love it!

I finally finished the fox quilt. I put the name on the back. It's a cute quilt!
I am happy with my finishes!!
